About the Business
Oriental Rugs from House of Rugs provides two main services - a personally escorted visit to a spectacular warehouse where the largest selection of carpets and rugs can be seen or a home service where we bring to you a smaller selection based on your preferences.
Oriental rugs are hand knotted on a loom. The wool used is very hard wearing due to the sheep roaming the mountains; having to be hardy to survive the contrast in temperatures. Oriental rugs are works of art that you can use and will in some cases increase in value. Oriental rugs and carpets come from Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, China, Turkey, Tibet and Nepal. The Oriental rugs and carpets that are from Iran are made up of 3 different types; town, village and tribal.
The town Oriental rugs tend to be the finest quality, some made with silk. The patterns are more intricate and because they are finer they will be the hardest wearing.
